Hike and Snorkel in the Best Swimming Holes of Central Texas
Join SOS field guides for a guided hiking and snorkel tours of Barton Springs pool, the Barton Creek Greenbelt, and the San Marcos River on weekend mornings and select weekdays in 2026! Enjoy an immersive experience in the cultural geography and rich geologic and cultural history at each of these ancient sites. Gain a better understanding of the fragile Edwards aquifer, witness an array of plant, wildlife and underwater hydro-geologic features and learn more about what we can all do to help keep these waterways clean and flowing for future generations of Austinites. SOS field guides are CPR and water rescue certified. Perfect for confident adult swimmers and competent youth swimmers 7+ years or older. Bring a suit, towel and water bottle. Snorkels, masks and life vests provided to all participants; life vests are on hand and provided at participants' request.
WHEN: 8 AM sharp to meet your guides and your fellow snorkel buddies. Tour lasts approx. 90 minutes
WHERE: Meet up location provided in your individual ticket and confirmation email.
WHAT TO BRING: WEAR YOUR SWIMSUIT, We will usually not be near the changing rooms, so please be ready to jump in! Water bottle, towel, snacks, sunscreen, and good vibes. Snorkel and mask provided.
*IMPORTANT* Please read waiver and you may sign a hard copy given to you before the tour begins. Participants with underlying health conditions that may impact their ability to navigate steep hills, rough terrain and/or deep water are strongly advised to seek medical clearance prior to engaging in our rigorous hikes. If participants) use an INHALER and/or require EPINEPHRINE (EpiPen), they are responsible for bringing their medication for self-administration.
